Vocabulary Plays in J09Exploring and using new vocabulary through theatre
Students have been exploring 5 new words from the book The Little Dragon by Mem Fox; steeple, spout, erupted, dismayed, aghast. They have investigated definitions, drawn pictures to show meaning, brainstormed synonyms and antonyms and have looked at ways to use the words in sentences.
In small groups, students created a fully narrated play with the goal of using the 5 words they have learned. This was a single lesson activity so the creativity and confidence shown in such as short time was certainly something to be proud of.
