Koinobori – Carp Streamers
Pakenham Springs Primary School has made an exciting switch to Japanese in 2017. Students and teachers alike are thrilled to be learning about the Japanese culture and language. On May 5th Junior School students celebrated Children’s Day by creating and flying beautiful Koinobori “carp streamers”. In Japanese culture the carp symbolises strength and courage because of its ability to swim upstream against the fighting currents. In honour of these qualities and in the spirit of multiculturalism, our students proudly shared this tradition with their classmates.
