Junior School Marki
This term J14 have been settling back into school life. We have been focusing on learning the school rules and following our school’s Basic Beliefs.
The students have enjoyed learning about the “Keys to Success” and role-playing how we need to act when following these procedures.
We brainstormed different ideas of how we can follow the Beliefs and wrote these ideas on their body.
We have also been learning more about how the “Daily 5″ works and what all the component of the program mean.
Here is a rundown of the 5 components we cover in our Literacy time.
- Read to self
- Read to Someone
- Listen to reading
- Word Work
- Work on writing
Counting is frogtastic in J14!!
In our classroom we have been focusing on using hands on materials to count objects. We have also been using counters to make small groups and to skip count. We are very clever and can skip count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s very well.
When we want a challenge Mrs Marki lets up skip count from different starting points.
We also use number lines and hundreds charts to help us with our learning.
Counting has been so much fun in our class this term. We have been counting to 100 and beyond using our bead frame. The students love counting as a whole class together and get really excited when its their turn to come up and help with the counting.
