Spring Fest 2018!Media Arts Film Festival, Graffiti Street Art Alley & Specialist Showcase
Pakenham Springs Primary School celebrated a very exciting new event on Friday November 30th, our very first Spring Fest!
Inspired by Trop Fest, our event was largely a film festival, but also co-starred an amazing graffiti street art experience. Dedicated teachers, Teague Rook and Esther Priestley, started the Media Arts program at Pakenham Springs this year and they worked tirelessly with students from P-6 to create their own films in time for the festival. Similarly Nadean Griffin, our Visual Arts teacher, went above and beyond to bring all the graffiti and other artwork together in one phenomenal immersive expo. This was a real passion-project for all teachers involved.
Students’ films were screened across the school and some featured on a large screen in the gym, where specially designed “Growler Award” trophies were presented to the winners in front of their proud families and teachers. Everyone was encouraged to dress up in Hollywood-style outfits for the evening, and we had several food trucks and festival treats for visitors to enjoy. Media Arts costumes and props were displayed around the school and “Street Art Alley” showcased students’ graffiti artworks in a Melbourne laneway-style simulation, which visitors were able to walk through and admire.
We also had a fun footy clinic run by the Pakenham Lions Football club and other Specialist subject displays around the school, including Junior Visual Arts, STEM and Japanese. Thank you to all the staff, students, families and community members that made this wonderful event possible.
This spectacular celebration will be something for everyone in the community to enjoy again in 2020.
